To Clean
An easy, inexpensive way of keeping your furniture beautiful, clean, and sanitized is to simply use a dry, soft, lint-free cloth with a solution of ½ white distilled vinegar / ½ water. Dampen the cloth with the solution, wipe down wood furnishings, and then dry them off with a secondary dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Periodically you may want to clean with an orange oil. These special oils, blended with a highly refined mineral oil, enhance the depth and bring out the natural beauty of wood grain. Products containing ammonia or silicone are NOT recommended.
Protect Your Finish
Wipe up spills immediately and dry them completely. Even the best finishes will eventually allow water to seep through and damage your furniture.
Prevent Damage
The most common sensical way of preventing damage is to treat your furniture well, or in other words not mistreat it. An example of mistreating your furniture might be leaning your chair back on its legs or standing on a chair or stool stretcher. For surfaces, we recommend using a coaster, trivet, placemat, or table cloth to protect wood surfaces from heat and/or water. Do not place hot items directly on your surface. When writing on a wood surface, protect it with a writing pad. In the end, treating your furniture well will be the determining factor in how long it lasts and how well it looks over time.
Fading or Discoloring
The most simplistic way of protecting your wood furnishings from fading or discoloring is to not place them in direct sunlight. UV exposure, over time, can damage the appearance of your furniture. If your space has a lot of sunlight, you may want to consider utilizing drapes, blinds, curtains, shades, or a window film to reduce the amount of sun your furniture is exposed to on a daily basis.
